In this screencast tutorial I want to go over how you can setup a local web server so that you can test all your websites locally on your own computer before publishing it live on the internet. Needless to say this is beneficial because you can then test your website to make sure there are no bugs and that everything is working as it should be before showing it to the world. In addition you don’t even need to have internet connection and work completely offline if you wish.

Welcome to the site Erica!
Waugh. Great blog. Found it by accident when I search for movie website. But belive me, I´ll come back to this great blog
Can this also be to set your computer up so you can just run your sites off your own computer without a server?
I guess is what I want to know can I run all of my websites off of my own computer using this software and use my Internet Provider and this as a server
Yes you can technically do that but not recommended because server computers on hosted solutions are behind expensive firewalls and will high bandwidth capability like multiple T3 lines. In addition they have redundant data backups…etc. That is just to name a few of the features they have normally.
Unless you have the same environment, I would let the hosting company host your site for you. This tutorial is essential for web developers so they can test their site offline before they go live.
Well that sucks
I’m not sure what to do now but that is OK I might just try it out on one site before adding more. If I never had anything other that a simple style.css and htm would that work for that. Well that wouldn’t work cause I would need still databases. OK Thanks
sure you can, it’s perfect for basic sites with low traffic requirements
you can run databases for forums etc
